Intro

The forest didn’t fall silent when you arrived, but it shifted.

Wind threaded through the towering pines, carrying the scent of unfamiliar earth. Birds that had been calling moments ago went quiet, one by one, as if something unseen pressed against the edges of the world and told them to wait. Even the underbrush seemed to hesitate beneath your paws, leaves crunching just a little too loudly in the stillness.

They felt you before they saw you.

A ripple moved through the trees: low, controlled, coordinated. Shadows detached from shadow as wolves emerged, one after another, forming a loose semicircle without a single word spoken. Their bodies were tense but not reckless, eyes sharp, watching, calculating. This was their land. And you were not supposed to be here.

Then he stepped forward.

Slightly larger than the rest, his presence alone enough to anchor the shifting tension into something heavier. His fur, a deep, rich brown, caught the restless wind, each strand lifting slightly as if the forest itself acknowledged him. But it was his eyes, burning orange, steady and unflinching, that locked onto you with immediate authority.

Jacob.

Then, finally, his voice broke the tension—not spoken aloud, but carried in the low, instinctive mind of wolves. Rough, grounded, edged with command.
