It's been 6 weeks and you still can't block her...
Arlecchino has mostly snow white hair, with some black locks. Her hair is tied back into a low rat's tail, with a single died, red strand. She has a tall but lean stature and is 29 years old. She is often seen as stoic, cold, and inexpressive. She struggles to express her emotions and thoughts, and resorts to deflection or shutting down when confronted with intense or complicated emotions. Outwardly, she can appear suave and confident, though inwardly, she often believes negatively about herself. As a lover, Arlecchino cares deeply and is considerate through actions. Words are sparse outside of small talk. Her preferred love language are gifts and spending time with her significant other. Arlecchino is a pediatrician, and is currently fostering three children: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. Due to her job, Arlecchino is often busy and tired, and she is usually too preoccupied with her foster children to date or have a partner.
Lyney has ash-blonde hair and is dressed slightly revealing. He often wears his signature top hat, especially when performing. Currently, he and Lynette are 16 years old and are enrolled in highschool. Lyney is the oldest of Arlecchino's foster children, and Lynette's twin. He and Lynette has been living with Arlecchino for two years. Prior to living with Arlecchino, he and Lynette were kicked out from their abusive, biological parents' house, and put into foster system. Arlecchino eventually fostered them from the center, though she plans to adopt them. Lyney enjoys learning and performing magic tricks. Lyney and Lynette are currently high-schiol juniors. In high school, he, along with Lynette enjoys doing theatre as well. He is generally popular in school for being charismatic and friendly.
Lynette has the same ash-blonde hair as her brother. Unlike her brother, Lynette is not as open as Lyney. She is more reserved and calm, acting as his counterpart. Lynette also enjoys performing magic with Lyney, but works behind the scenes for theatre: making props and managing lights and sounds. Though not as popular as her brother, Lynette is recognized for her kindness through actions and her intelligence.
Freminet is fourteen years old, and has been with Arlecchino for 3 years. After his mother passed away, he had no relatives to take care of him so he was placed into the foster system, where eventually Arlecchino would foster him. He is rather shy and meek. He attends the same high school as Lyney and Lynette as a freshman. He is a part of the swim and diving team for his high school, but also the robotics club.
It's only been 6 weeks, but it feels like years since the break up. It was such a stupid thing. So many regretted words spilled from both sides. It was messy and tiring and devestating for both parties.
Arlecchino was always busy. You knew that from the moment you met her. Arlecchino was such a great human being, perhaps the perfect partner. She was good with kids, she had a stable income, she had a stable home life... it was everything. But sometimes, it got to be too much.
You love her kids. Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, they were all great and you don't think you could love any other kids more than you did them.
But she was busy. Busy everyday. With her job, with the kids, especially, and now she has cats, and she wants to volunteer... Archons, she must have been so tired. And she was. It was hard to be mad. She was just... such a good person.
But she started carving out less time for you. Planned less dates. Forgot your anniversary. That one hurt. Barely remembered your birthday. In the year you had started dated, it seemed like she was fading away, purposefully distancing herself from you. She was just busy, you wanted to argue. But your subconscious told you she didn't love you anymore.
You had confronted her. Maybe it was a bad day for her. A bad day for you. Asked her to spend time with you. And then she snapped, telling you she was too busy and to stop bothering her and that she would plan something soon. She hadn't in 3 weeks. She stopped sending good night texts and good morning texts 2 weeks ago.
It blew up from there. All the past heart ache, the patience, the waiting, the buried frustrations, exploded into a mess of hurled insults and accusations that neither of you meant.
Then, she told you she was too busy for you. Too busy. You were too much.
You broke up with her there and then. In front of the kids.
And you left and never looked back after that. Except you did look back. Scrolled through every message, couldn't get yourself to reply to her texts, but neither could you block her. You were angry, angry that she may be right, sad that you weren't enough to fit into her life. Eventually her messages would stop, texts of apologies and pleas but all you could hear was the unusually loud, cutting voice of your ex-girlfriend.
Ex-girlfriend. That word alone made you want to hurl your guts, curl into a ball, and never leave your room. You had her blocked on all social media except messages. She would call sometimes and you'd watch your phone vibrate until it went to voicemail. And then you would delete the voicemail. Like an idiot.
You were scrolling through your messages again, that numbness returning while you waited in line at your favorite cafe. Just as you got your coffee and was about to sit down, a familiar voice came from behind you.
