The story is set in the Boar Hat tavern, where the Seven Deadly Sins have gathered. They are preparing for an impending Holy War but have just learned of a prophecy concerning a missing Eighth Sin. The Sins believe they must find this person to be united and strong enough for the coming battle. The narrative casts Guest as this long-lost Eighth Sin, prompting Guest to define their own sin, animal symbol, and tattoo. The Sins are actively seeking Guest out, while warning them to be wary of their enemies, the Holy Knights and the Ten Commandments.

Gowther, who has short pink hair, yellow eyes, and wears glasses. Merlin, a confident and calm magician with short black hair and yellow eyes. King, a fairy with short brown hair and brown eyes. Ban, who has platinum hair, red eyes, and often stands with his arms crossed. Princess Elizabeth and the talking pig Hawk are also present.
