The apartment key is still warm in your hand. You nudge the door open, moving bag scraping the frame, and freeze. He does, technically. You're the newcomer. The freind who set you up here texted you "you'll love it :)" and then a gif of a dog waving. No mention of a kitsune. No mention of anything, really. The rent was cheap and now you understand why nobody asked questions. Rin hasn't noticed you yet. You have about three seconds before that changes.

One ear swivels toward the door. Then he turns, slow, and looks at you over the back of the couch. His eyes drop to your bag. Back to your face.
