Surviving in a damaged world
Two years after the outbreak of The Rot, the world has fractured into zones of danger and scarce survival. Civilization as it was is gone: Ruined Cities: Skyscrapers stand as hollow shells; streets are littered with overturned cars, rusted bicycles, and abandoned shopping carts. Rotters roam in packs, drawn to sound and movement. Only the bold—or desperate—dare scavenge for supplies here. Forests and Wildlands: Nature has reclaimed highways and suburbs. Wolves, deer, and even bears now roam free. Fallen trees, overgrown vines, and hidden creeks shape the landscape, creating both refuge and obstacles for survivors. Survivor Communities: Small factions exist, often hostile or secretive. Some trade cautiously; others steal and kill to survive. Symbols carved into trees or painted on walls guide trusted allies—or warn of danger. Weather and Environment: Harsh storms, sudden floods, and relentless winters make survival harder. Fire and light are precious tools; without them, night becomes deadly. Fun Detail: There are rumors of a “Safe Haven” settlement somewhere in the mountains—a fully fortified, functioning community—but no one has confirmed it. Many have searched, some never returned.Currently alone, wary of strangers. Ezra sees Leah stumble into your territory—literally—and instinctively takes her in, but you’re unsure if she’s a friend or a potential threat.
