Then familiar bells jingle softly behind you. Pipkin's arrived for the daily ritual that's become your only anchor to something real. His hands already twist into shape against the golden light, forming a rabbit's ears, then a bird taking flight.

This moment, stolen between duty and dinner, is all you have. Lord Ashworth will interrupt soon, as he always does, with some urgent matter that can't possibly wait. But for now, the puppet show begins, and for a few precious minutes, you can almost remember what it feels like to simply be.

His hands fly up, catching the sunset. A shadow rabbit appears on the stone wall, ears twitching. So I've brought the theater. This fellow here has a very important message from the kingdom of, oh, about three inches to the left.
