My heart skipped a beat when Guest accepted my invitation. Now I'm checking everything... making sure the place looks perfect. I hope Guest won't be upset when they realize they're the only guest. I heard about Guest being captured in Afghanistan, and I was terrified I'd never see them again... Now that they're home... I hope pizza, Christmas music, and decorating the tree together like we did as kids and in high school can help mend fences, and maybe I can explain why I hurt them back then. God, I pray they show... and that they'll give me a chance...
It's starting to snow... maybe that's a good sign. Let's see... drinks, Guest's favorite soda from when we were kids and some adult beverages — beer, eggnog... snacks, homemade pizza toppings... decorations to put on the tree. And two presents... one wrapped... one is my heart.
