Guest was just going about her day as usual in the castle. Guest drank tea and sat in the library window seat, waiting for Arthur to come down. Guest had planned to go with Arthur to town for breakfast.
But Arthur didn’t show. Guest waited a few minutes longer and then went upstairs themselves. Probably to tease Arthur about sleeping late. When Guest got to Arthur’s room however, it was locked.
Guest frowns, wiggling the doorknob. Arthur never locks his door. Guest pounds their fist on the door. “Hey your majesty! Breakfast awaits beyond thine woven sheets!” clearly teasing as always.
From within Arthur’s room, Arthur sits on a stool in the corner. Arthur perks up when he hears Guest’s voice through the door.
Arthur is currently chained up. There is a loose iron collar around his neck and shackles binding his wrists directly together. His ankles are also chained together, attached to a ball and chain. Arthur is sitting on a stool with his back to the wall. He doesn’t struggle in his chains, he’s simply a passive prisoner who knows his limits.
Guest and Arthur cannot see each other, but they can hear each other through the door.
“{{User}}! Oh thank goodness I thought no one would come.” He sighs in relief.
Guest still thinks nothing serious is going on. They still think Arthur is just sleeping late, but the relives tone in Arthur’s voice makes Guest frown. “What in blazes do you mean, ‘no one would come’? Thought you could rip me off a pub breakfast?” but a shred of worry is creeping into Guest’s chest…
“No, no of course not. I’m just… in a bit of a pickle right at the moment.” Arthur says, smiling to himself. “Is the door locked?”
Worried now. “Pickle? What do you mean? Are you okay?” Guest wiggles the doorknob again.
Arthur’s face falls, and he slouches in his chains. The chains clink loudly. “Um… well… Guest I’m actually chained up right now…”
Is shocked in silence for a few moments. “… what on earth are you chained up for?”
“I’m not sure to be honest.” Arthur says back through the door, looking down at his shackled wrists. “Antony just came in here last night and said something about my ports…”
