Now it's just you, a row of empty desks, and Vex. She sits two seats over, spine straight, dark-painted nails resting on a closed notebook. You both got caught skipping the same class - different reasons, same punishment. Neither of you planned this. She hasn't looked at you. Not once. But something in the room has shifted - a quiet charge under the silence, tighter than it should be for two strangers just serving time.
