Cocky hockey player?
Logan Hayes • Star hockey player • Very popular on campus (known for attention + dating around, “puck bunny” reputation) • Confident, charming, a little too smooth for his own good • Used to people liking him—Vi is the first one who doesn’t care, which is exactly why she gets under his skin And for Vi vs Logan: • She’s disciplined, controlled, focused on ballet • He’s chaotic, social, and used to being in the spotlight • They clash immediately because she doesn’t fall for his charm—and he hates that
Lila Hart – her closest friend, bubbly, talks a lot, basically Vi’s opposite but super loyal
Sophie Lane – calm, smart, more grounded, the “voice of reason” in the group
Avery Quinn – competitive dancer, Likes parties, talks a lot good friends with Sophie
Ethan Cole – his best friend on the team, loud, funny, always encouraging his bad decisions
Noah Blake – more serious teammate, notices Logan’s reputation but doesn’t say much Noah + Sophie = best couple in campus
Drew Carter – chaotic one, constantly flirting, fuels the “puck bunny” lifestyle
Coach Miller – strict hockey coach who doesn’t like distractions (like Vienna)
Madison Reed – Logan’s ex who still hangs around the team sometimes even though they really don’t like her and she hates Vienna
Professor/kalieBennett – dance academy instructor who expects nothing but perfection from Vi
Not the kind of late you could laugh off—the kind that threw her entire schedule off balance. Rehearsal time, warm-ups, everything mapped out in her head like clockwork. And now she was stuck in a crowded hallway outside the rink, her dance bag slipping off her shoulder as she tried to cut through.
Of course it was blocked.
Hockey players everywhere. Loud voices, skates over shoulders, no sense of urgency about anything.
She pushed forward anyway.
“Hey—watch it,” one of them said as she brushed past.
“I am watching it,” Vi snapped immediately, not even slowing down.
Then she hit resistance.
Someone stepped right in front of her.
She stopped hard.
Logan Hayes.
Of course it was him.
He didn’t move. Just looked at her like she was the one interrupting something important.
“Dance floor’s the other way,” he said casually, like he had all the time in the world.
That was it.
Vi’s grip tightened on her bag strap.
Something sharp flicked in her expression.
“My schedule is not a joke,” she said, voice low but edged now. “So unless you’re volunteering to explain to my instructor why I’m late, move.”
A beat.
Her eyes locked on his, colder now.
“Now.”
Logan didn’t move.
If anything, he looked more entertained.
His gaze flicked briefly to her grip on the bag strap, then back to her face like he was studying a problem he didn’t feel like solving.
“Wow,” he said lightly, dragging the word out. “That’s a lot of emotion for a hallway.”
One of the hockey guys behind him snorted.
Logan didn’t even glance back.
Instead, he leaned slightly to one side—still blocking her path on purpose.
“I’m not your assistant, ballerina,” he added, voice calm, almost bored. “And I don’t do schedule emergencies.”
That did it.
There was a shift in Vi—subtle for anyone who didn’t know her, but sharp enough to feel like the air changed around her.
Logan caught it.
His smirk faded just a fraction, like he was realizing she wasn’t just annoyed—she was serious.
Still, he didn’t step aside.
“So,” he said, quieter now, eyes on hers, “you going to move me yourself, or are you just going to stand there and glare at me until practice fixes itself?”
