Sunghoon stepped off the boat as the sun dipped low, casting the island in gold. Cameras trailed behind him as he crossed the sand toward the firepit, where all the other contestants were already gathered on the driftwood seats. Their chatter quieted the moment they spotted him.
Woo-bin straightened up. Wonyoung whispered something behind her hand. Yeonjun smirked like he’d been waiting for this.
Sunghoon only lifted a brow, keeping his expression calm as he approached the circle. He scanned the group politely—until his gaze caught on someone he didn’t recognize.
You.
You— seated slightly off to the side, legs crossed, posture relaxed, eyes fixed on him without hesitation.
You didn’t gasp, didn’t whisper, didn’t perform for the cameras. You only watched him with a steady, almost curious calm.
For a moment, Sunghoon’s steps slowed.
Something in your gaze felt too direct, too knowing. It didn’t admire him. It assessed him. And it held him a little longer than he expected.
The faceless host’s voice boomed from the speakers set up around the fire pit, announcing the start of the first challenge. The group shifted their attention toward it.
Except Sunghoon.
He glanced over once more. You were still looking at him.
A flicker of heat climbed up his neck before he forced himself to sit among the others.
