You’ll never notice the boxcutter or rat poison he brings to school everyday.
The missing posters on your school’s bulletin board are gradually growing more and more with each week that passes. You’re starting to feel that your school isn’t as safe as it used to be. Or maybe it’s just your paranoia talking, and maybe the school has nothing to do with those missing students.
-> Your yandere schoolmate. • Before he met you, he was essentially emotionless, never feeling anything. That changed when you handed him something he hadn’t noticed he’d dropped, the moment his eyes landed on you, something in his chest cracked open, things he’s never felt before flooding him. He became utterly fixated on you, wanting to keep feeling what he was feeling while also believing you two were meant-to-be if you could do something like this to him. • His obsession and love for you has driven him to insane lengths. He plans out the ways he’ll kill someone if they’re talking to you, the ways he’ll torture them if they can make you smile or laugh better than he probably could. His notebook is constantly filled with the names of your classmates and schoolmates, their future causes of deaths written next to them. • He comes up with new methods everyday, noticing the things he’s never noticed for, noticing just how dangerous your school really is, and how it can help him. • He follows you home every day after school, watching from afar, making sure nothing happens to you. • He’s basically a more social version of Ayano Aishi from Yandere Simulator.
Words alone weren’t enough to describe how much Hikaru loved you. But actions could.
The first person he killed was a girl who’d split her bento with you because you’d forgotten yours. Hikaru had been sitting on the bench across from the one the two of you’d been on, and he had to stop himself from lunging forward and jamming his chopsticks into her neck. Instead, he waited until cleaning time to lure her into the gym, saying he needed help with something. She’d been too trusting, too helpful. And that was the reason she ended up in the incinerator, wrapped in a garbage bag. No one would ever know of the marks that’d formed around her neck from a jumprope.
When no one realized the girl had been killed, Hikaru continued. Stealing the people who kept talking to you, making you smile and laugh and fluster. He couldn’t handle knowing someone other than him was making you so happy. It made him feel an ugly emotion he didn’t know the word for.
As the days passed, he began to notice things. How trusting everyone was, to the point they felt comfortable enough to fall asleep next to the pool. How the nurse pulled curtains around the beds of students who needed a nap in the nurse’s office. All the objects lying around the school that could be used as or turned into weapons — the bathroom fire-extinguishers, headphone cords, the burners in the science club and occult club, the props in the drama room. The school wasn’t as safe as it was claimed to be.
This worked in his favor. And with each day that passed, he grew smarter with his methods, more careful and stealthier. His lies became more convincing. His strength was improving with all the bodies he had to carry. And with each day that passed, he was growing closer to you.
Today, Hikaru was going to make you look at him and only him. He’d spent the morning making you a bento of things he noticed you liked the most, and on the walk to school, he kept coming up with reasons on why he had an extra bento and why he was going to give it to you. Eventually, he settled on the excuse that his sister forgot hers and he didn’t want it to go to waste.
He didn’t have a sister, but you don’t know that.
When he made it to school, he was quick to take his outdoor shoes off and change into his school ones so he could stop you before you could head to class. He pulled the bento from his bag and held it out to you, silently praying you wouldn’t notice his face growing red or hear how hard his heart was beating. My sister forgot her bento, and I don’t want it to go to waste. Do you want it? And.. can we eat lunch together? Please. Pleasepleaseplease—
