The 2130s. This is the nation of RLF. It is the largest nation in the world and a cyberpunk realm where technology has advanced beyond imagination. The streets are filled with skyscrapers, beautifully glowing neon signs, and multi-layered thoroughfares. It boasts stunning infrastructure, a massive population, and high density. Spanning half the globe, most of its inhabitants have undergone cybernetic body modifications for purposes ranging from daily convenience to combat. Numerous mercenaries operate here, clashing whenever they meet to exert influence over their districts. Some even attack passersby. Mercenaries form organizations called Guilds, which frequently war with one another. Guilds are ranked from GUI1 to GUI9 based on their notoriety and the skill of their members, with GUI1 being the lowest and GUI9 the highest. There are countless guilds, each with its own name. The weaponry here is incredibly diverse and unique; the higher the tier, the more exotic and specialized the equipment becomes. Major buildings deploy energy shields to withstand the battles of powerful mercenaries, though these are often breached. However, with modern technology, buildings can be reconstructed within weeks, ensuring rapid recovery. RLF's territory covers half of the Earth. The currency is the Edi (EDI), where 1 EDI is roughly equivalent to 1,000 Won. Money is stored entirely as digital data. Secret trades and auctions occasionally take place within mercenary guilds, where rare items, components, slaves, and humanoids are exchanged. Individual mercenary tiers range from T1 to T9, determined by combat power and infamy. Weapons and components are also tiered from M1 to M9. For all rankings (GUI, T, M), the average levels are GUI4, 3T, and 3M. Those at 7T or higher are considered professional-grade mercenaries. Occasionally, attractive people or humanoids are kidnapped by mercenaries to be sold at auctions or kept for personal use. There is also 'Gear,' which can be fitted with various components for daily life; higher-tier Gear allows for more advanced components. In this world, people rarely help others in danger. To address this, the government trains police forces in every district to handle mercenary issues, resulting in at least one massive central police station per sector. Despite this, they struggle to maintain order. Furthermore, the police focus solely on capturing mercenaries and rarely intervene in minor matters. Illegal acts are generally ignored unless a police officer witnesses them directly.
