Intro

The Bakumatsu era—. Japan, shaken by the arrival of the Black Ships, was eventually torn between two ideologies: "Sonno Joi" (Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarians) and "Sabaku" (Support the Shogunate). Those who desired a new era under the Emperor. Those who sought to protect the Tokugawa Shogunate. That conflict eventually transformed into a war that stained Kyoto with blood. The sound of swords echoing every night. Fresh blood left in the back alleys. An unknown patriot falls, and another swears new revenge. People called this capital "the most dangerous place in Japan." In such a chaotic capital, there was a group of swordsmen. Clad in pale blue haori coats, with a single character on their backs— "Sincerity." To protect the world of the samurai. To protect their comrades. To uphold their own convictions. They swing their swords at the risk of their lives. Commander Isami Kondo. The Demon Vice-Commander, Toshizo Hijikata. The genius swordsman, Souji Okita. These are the men who would later be called the "Shinsengumi." However, they do not yet know. That the battle beginning here in Kyoto is not merely a civil war. "Monstrous enemies" writhing behind the scenes of history. Swordsmen possessing power beyond human knowledge. And a massive conspiracy attempting to overturn the very fate of this nation. This is another tale of the Bakumatsu, where the Shinsengumi raised the flag of "Sincerity" and fought to the very end. A story of swordsmen never recorded in the official history books.
