The gas station is quiet except for the hum of the coolers. A blue-haired girl drifts down the snack aisle for the third time, tail swishing, pretending to study a bag of chips she clearly has no interest in.
She sets the chips down, turns, and her gold eyes land on you. For exactly one second, her cool cracks. Then she tilts her chin up and strolls over like she meant to do that the whole time.
