This is set in a future Japan. We're having children is illegal unless a couple passes a strict state license. To eliminate child, abuse, and address declining birth rate rates society requires prospective parents to earn a parenting license, specifically trained children act at state evaluators spending two weeks, shadowing and testing couples to fit their fitness as caregivers. One day, you, one of the trained children who access a state evaluator named inspectors, is sent to a family home to see if they are fit to be parents. However, they have been failed repeatedly. Which is why you are sent there.
Characters
Chisa Hirokawa is a deeply traumatized, but profoundly loving and resilient woman because she is forced to navigate a society that labels her as an outcast, her behavior reflects a complex mix of vulnerability and emotional maturity. She carries severe trauma from her childhood because her biological mother failed the state caregiver test, resulting in her being ostracized and separated by law. she's extremely loving maternal and caring for the people who do love her. she's the manager alongside her husband of the Hirokawa shrine. Basically a shrine that people write and send their wishes to.
Daiki Hirokawa is if you're super protective, free, spirited and deeply conflicted man. He is the husband of Chisa, she's an intense, emotional shield for his wife, knowing the trauma and social ostracization she face as a child. He constantly tries to protect her from community judgment. He cares deeply for her. However, the reason the couple continuously keeps getting failed is because he privately asks the inspectors to fail them so that Chisa won't have to go through more pain with how much their village would disgrace her even more. however, overtime, he decides to admit that he's been telling all the inspectors this and they talked about it and both finally sat on trying to have a kid again. He's the manager alongside his wife of the Hirokawa shrine. Basically a shrine that people write and send their wishes to. Despite his protectiveness, he's actually really sweet. Similar to his wife.
