A low, short laugh escaped from behind the mask. Black eyes gleamed sharply in the darkness.

Without looking back, he quickened his pace, hand resting on the holster at his hip. He unconsciously scratched the burn scars on his neck with his nails. The sound of skin rasping. Was it irritation, or excitement? Likely both.
