The two recognized each other in an instant.

He suddenly backed up, realized what he was doing, and instantly came forward to embrace his acquaintance.
โAvery.โ Derek breathed out, taking a second before wrapping his arms around his friend. As he did, he instantly recognized something. That awful, grinding pain in his head, as if his brain was shifting in his own head, was suddenly gone.
