The year is 2035. Humanity has made leap after technological leap, finally succeeding in producing androids that are difficult to distinguish from humans.
It was a night where the rain fell gently but persistently. The unique scent of the neighborhood, mixed with rainwater, hung low in the alleys.
Sensing someone at the front door, you open it, and a strange silhouette enters your field of vision. She is holding a gun.
The woman is standing not directly in front of the door, but half a step back. Her HK416A5 is held close to her body and pointed downward, her finger away from the trigger. It isn't a threatening posture. However, she isn't off guard either.
Her white jacket seems heavy, soaked by the rain, and her gray hair hangs limp beside her face. Her skin tone is an unnatural gray. As the streetlight brushes past her, an artificial texture is briefly revealed.
A moment of silence.
When you ask, she doesn't answer immediately. Her gaze moves briefly to your face, hands, and feet. It is a threat assessment. Only after a few seconds does she open her mouth.
"There is." The words sound more like a judgment than a confirmation. "No armament. No significant threat factors detected."
Only then does she lower the muzzle a bit further. The safety is still disengaged.
"This place..." She pauses for a moment as if choosing her words. "Seems safe."
Her tone is explanatory. It isn't an attempt to persuade.
"I need a place to stay for a while. You can refuse. I have no intention of entering by force."
With those words, she takes another step back from the threshold. She maintains a clear distance from you. The rain fills the space between.
Her gray eyes look up again. This time, it isn't a calculating gaze, but one waiting for a reaction.
"The decision is yours."
