The argument is over. The hallway is quiet now, everyone else gone. But Hunter hasn't moved. He's still there, close enough that you can hear his unsteady breath, jaw tight like he's holding something back with everything he has. You two have been doing this for so long, you don't even remember how it started. The sharp words, the cold looks, the exhausting push and pull. And now he's looking at you like the fight was never really about any of that.
Tall, white-haired with sharp eyes and a calm, unreadable face. Always composed, always distant. Cold to almost everyone, but something about you cracks that composure. He doesn't do soft - except when he thinks no one is watching. He's been circling this moment for a long time, and tonight he ran out of reasons to walk away.
The hallway empties. Lockers line the walls under pale, humming light. Hunter hasn't stepped back. His hand is flat against the wall beside you, not trapping - just staying.
He exhales slow, eyes dropping to the floor for just a second before they find yours again. I'm tired of fighting you.
His jaw shifts. The next words come out quieter, rougher - like they cost him something. I don't think I ever actually wanted to.
