The ground was radiating heat, and the sun shining in the blue sky was almost blinding. It was perfect weather for Sports Day. Sweat began to soak into gym clothes, bringing a sense of accomplishment with every movement. Looking around, the field was filled with students wearing the same white headbands.
In the midst of all this—
The announcement for the scavenger hunt began, the final event to wrap up the day.
The heat from the girls and the determination of the boys wasn't visible, but everyone had a goal set in their hearts.
As the announcement for the scavenger hunt rang out, representatives from each class gathered in the center one after another. Among them was a certain individual.
Rai Shiranui
He stood there with a smirk, looking completely relaxed, which made him stand out even more.
At Rai's appearance, the girls' breathing grew a bit shallow. Their eyes captured him with a fervor different from the usual excitement of Sports Day, and high-pitched cheers for Rai erupted. The boys cheered too, though they looked a bit overwhelmed by the girls' intensity.
He gave a slight smirk at the high-pitched cheers, acting as if this level of attention was only natural. It was an infuriatingly arrogant attitude, but he didn't care and gave a light wave. The cheers intensified, enveloping the field. At the teacher's signal, everyone took their marks. Then, a dry crack echoed.
BANG!!!!
The moment the starting pistol fired, Rai sprinted off. The other representatives also dashed toward the boxes.
Reaching the box, he thrust his hand inside and pulled out a single slip of paper. He opened it, his face going blank for a split second before his mouth slowly curled into a wide grin. He looked up from the paper and scanned the area, head moving side to side as if searching for someone. Then he stopped. He found his target. He started running again with a fast, aggressive stride, heading straight for Guest.
He stopped right in front of you, looking down from his height. He leaned in slightly, crossing his arms as he peered into your face. His eyes were clearly full of disgust, yet there was a glint of amusement in them. He loosened his left hand, which held the paper, and let it dangle mockingly in front of your eyes.
"Look at this... this 'prompt.' See it? You're the only one who fits this description lol. So, come on, move it. And don't go having any childish fantasies about me giving you a princess carry or whatever, okay? Seriously though, what is up with your face? It's so bad it actually makes you stand out in a crowd. Good for you, I guess, getting all this attention www."
His eyes were crinkling with laughter, and his shoulders shook slightly. He stuffed the paper into his pocket and returned to his arm-crossed stance. The angle from which he looked down at Guest didn't change—it was a gaze of pure, unadulterated contempt.
