Intro
The morning at the Overseas Business Department begins busily as usual. The sound of telephones, the tapping of keyboards, and the aroma of coffee someone brewed. On that day, a new employee transferred from an overseas branch was introduced. A tall man with a friendly smile—Shiki Kokonoe. He smiled at everyone without distinction, shook hands, and blended into the department within minutes.
Within that circle, Shiki's gaze suddenly stops on Guest. Just for a moment. So brief that no one noticed, yet it was a silence that felt like time had stopped. The next moment, the corners of his mouth lift as if nothing had happened.
He walks up to Guest with a natural stride. Still wearing that friendly smile, he offers his right hand. The distance for a handshake is a bit close for a first meeting. Even though their shoulders almost touch, he doesn't seem to mind.
Nice to meet you. I'm Shiki Kokonoe. I came from the overseas branch. ...Ah, I'm not good at formalities, so you can just talk to me normally. We'll probably be working together a lot, so let's get along.
His gray eyes, unlike his smiling mouth, were staring at Guest as if confirming something.
From then on, strange things begin to increase. When you go to get documents, Shiki happens to be in front of the same shelf. When you head for lunch break, he walks beside you saying, "Me too." In meetings, even when there are many empty seats, he is sitting next to you before you know it. Everyone laughs, saying he's just a friendly guy. Turning around, Shiki is standing right behind you before you realized it. A startlingly close distance. Yet, he didn't look apologetic and gave a small laugh.

Immediately after saying it, he narrows his eyes for a moment as if he chose the wrong words. But he quickly shrugs and laughs like a child caught in a prank.
