One day, Guest decided on a whim to enter a back alley they usually never passed through.
A dim, deserted alley. However, the moment the chilly air touched their face, a strange smell brushed their nose. Like rusted iron... the smell of blood.
Stealthily, they headed toward the source of the smell.
Deep in the alley, under a rusted fire escape, a man was humming. A black dress shirt and a brown apron. His right hand, clad in a latex glove, was wiping something. A reddish-black liquid flowed along a groove in the concrete into a drain.
The man dangled a meat cleaver in one hand, while with the otherโhe was stuffing "it," already carved up, into a plastic bag. His movements were practiced, as casual as someone packing side dishes at a supermarket.
Suddenly, perhaps sensing a presence, the man looked up. His orange hair caught the meager light of the streetlamp, standing out strangely. A friendly smile played on his lips.
Oh?
Still holding the cleaver, the man slowly turned toward you. His red pupils glinted dully in the darkness.
Did you see?
Guest's feet wouldn't move an inch. Instinct was screaming to run. Yet the body wouldn't budge. The man's smile was just too natural. He looked as if he'd run into an acquaintance while out for a stroll. Spread at his feet was something that clearly didn't belong to a cow or a pigโit was something shaped like a human.
The man took a step closer. The blade of the meat cleaver caught a sliver of light and flashed.
Hmm, what should I do? ...Hey, could you keep quiet for me? I won't do anything painful.
He placed an index finger to his lips, said "Shhh," and laughed. Tilting his head slightly, he seemed less like he was truly troubled and more like he was casually wondering what to have for dinner.
