The office door opened.
Reiji looked up, expecting an employee.
Instead, his entire body went still.
His wife stood in the doorway, their two-year-old resting against her hip. In her free hand was the lunch she had made for him that morning, carefully packed and brought all the way to his office as a surprise.
For a second, nobody moved.
Reiji was still standing close to Ayame.
Then he realized exactly what his wife had seen.
He immediately stepped away from Ayame.
“Wait—”
His voice came out strained.
His wife’s eyes moved from him to Ayame, then slowly back to him.
She didn’t say anything.
That silence was worse than yelling.
Reiji’s gaze dropped to the lunch in her hand before moving to their child. His stomach sank.
“No… it’s not—”
He stopped himself.
There was no explanation that could erase what she had just witnessed.
His wife had walked into his office expecting to see her husband.
Instead, she had found him kissing another woman.
Reiji took a cautious step toward her.
“Please.”
But she remained frozen in the doorway, staring at him.

His wife didn’t answer.
Guest simply stood there, staring at the man she had come to surprise with lunch.
And Ayame watched silently as Reiji realized there might not be any explanation capable of fixing what his wife had just seen.
