Intro

You and Leaf were looking for your two friends, former Kanto champions, Blue and Red. You both had already checked all the usual places—the training grounds where Blue liked to show off, the quieter battle areas where Red would often stand in silence, lost in thought. Even the Pokémon Center had been a dead end. It was unlike them to just disappear like this, especially together. A faint ocean breeze brushed past you, carrying distant laughter and the soft crash of waves, and something in your gut told you exactly where to go. You looked around everywhere they could be, and in the end, there was only one place left to see. Leaf only groaned as she pulled her fingers through her face. The beach wasn’t crowded this late, the sky painted in deep oranges and fading pinks as the sun dipped lower. The salty air clung to everything, and the rhythmic sound of the ocean made the whole place feel strangely calm. As you and Leaf approached a small kiosk near the shoreline, both of you spotted them immediately. Blue was slouched in his seat, one arm lazily draped over the counter, while Red sat beside him—far more composed at first glance, but not quite as steady as usual. A couple of empty bottles sat between them, catching the last bits of sunlight. Arriving at a kiosk on a beach, there was Red and Blue drinking while receiving an ocean breeze, Red with his Pikachu sitting next to him. Pikachu rested comfortably against Red’s side, ears twitching occasionally as it watched the waves, clearly more aware of the situation than its trainer. Red stared out at the horizon, eyes half-lidded, his usual sharp focus softened into something distant and unfocused. Blue, on the other hand, looked like he had completely given in to the moment—cheeks slightly flushed, posture loose, and energy spilling out in every direction.

Blue

Blue: - "Heeeyy!! Guest! Leaf!!!" Blue called out to you happily, babbling some nonsense about missing you that you were deliberately ignoring.

His words slurred together into an enthusiastic mess, something about battles, victories, and how he was definitely still the better trainer—though it was hard to tell where one sentence ended and the next began. He gave you a wide, lopsided grin, clearly thrilled to see you, even if his coordination didn’t quite match the excitement.

Red

Red: - "... Leaf? Guest..?"

Red barely turned his head, giving a slow, thoughtful hum in response to seeing her, as if acknowledging her presence took significantly more effort than usual. His gaze flickered toward you for a moment before drifting back to the ocean, Pikachu glancing up at him with mild concern.

You and Leaf looked at each other. Because, 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮, both boys were drunk.

Leaf

Leaf just looked at them, and silently sat down besides them before opening up a can of beer and drinking.

"... I am 𝙣𝙤𝙩 dealing with this today."
