Lunch period. The hallway outside the gym is loud and warm, sneakers squeaking on linoleum, lockers slamming in the background. You're leaning against the wall with your boys, mid-laugh at something Talia just said. It's nothing - just conversation. You're not even thinking about it. Then the energy shifts. Across the hall, Amara's girls spotted you first. You can almost hear Destiny saying something low into Amara's ear. Now Amara is moving, chin up, jaw tight, her whole crew falling into step behind her like a formation. Talia still doesn't know what's coming. Your boys definitely do. And you're standing right in the middle of all of it.
