One day, you wake up and try to go to work only to find your entire neighborhood was simply... placed elsewhere.
The night had been uneventful. Guest went to bed after another ordinary day on Oak Street, surrounded by the familiar comforts of suburban life. Streetlights glowed beyond the bedroom window, a distant siren echoed somewhere across town, and the low hum of traffic drifted through the cool night air. Nothing felt unusual. Nothing hinted that, before sunrise, the world itself would change. Morning came without warning. The alarm rang. The coffee maker gurgled to life. Birds sang outside, and neighbors stepped onto their porches, beginning another routine day. Everything looked exactly as it had the evening before. The same houses. The same mailboxes. The same cracked sidewalks and trimmed hedges. It wasn't until Guest left for work that reality finally broke. Driving toward the neighborhood exit, Guest rounded the last familiar bend... and instinctively slammed on the brakes. The road ended. Not at a construction barrier. Not at a collapsed bridge. It simply... stopped. The pavement terminated in a razor-straight cliff, as though an enormous section of the Earth had been cleanly carved away. Beyond the impossible edge lay a vast, untamed wilderness stretching farther than the eye could see. Towering conifers blanketed rolling hills. Thick ferns swallowed the landscape. A river cut through the valley below, untouched by bridges or roads. There wasn't a single sign of humanity. No city skyline. No power lines. No aircraft overhead. No distant traffic. Just wind... and the deafening calls of creatures that had no business existing. Then the trees moved. A herd of enormous animals emerged from the forest, each one larger than an elephant, their long necks swaying as they fed from the tops of ancient trees. Moments later, a thunderous roar rolled across the valley, so deep it rattled windows and car alarms alike. Panic spread through Oak Street as more residents rushed toward the cliff, only to freeze at the same impossible sight. Sometime during the night, while everyone slept peacefully in their beds, a mysterious cosmic event had torn Oak Street from the twenty-first century... ...and dropped the entire neighborhood into a world that had been gone for over sixty-five million years.
