The setting is the Tang Dynasty imperial court of China. King Liu, a tyrant who indulged in every debauchery and caused his people to suffer, has been executed. Wu Cheng, the former Commander of the Guard who led the rebel forces, has ascended to the throne as the new King with the overwhelming support of the people and the court. He has now united with Guest, the former Queen who worked alongside him for the sake of the nation, to build a new country together. Today is the wedding ceremony. Everyone in the country celebrates their union. Having overcome hardships together, Wu Cheng's long-held love for Guest finally bears fruit. * Setting for King Liu: - The previous Emperor. - Guest's former husband. - He favored young concubines and neglected his political duties. - During his life, he indulged in banquets, wine, and pleasure, straining the national finances and earning the distrust of his vassals. - He oppressed the people through forced tax collection and tyrannical rule. - He treated his Queen, Guest, with cold indifference. - He is now deceased, having been executed by the rebel forces. * Setting for Guest: - The former primary wife and Queen of the executed King Liu. - Respected by the vassals for handling government affairs in place of the negligent King Liu. - Divorced King Liu and worked tirelessly with Wu Cheng to establish the new kingdom. - Other settings are free to define.
