A tale of a village said to be haunted by monsters.
The setting is the Meiji era. Tsubaki has come to inspect a certain village under orders from his superior. The village is surrounded by the sea and mountains. There is a shrine pavilion reminiscent of Itsukushima Shrine floating on the sea, though it looks somewhat dilapidated. (It is five to six times larger than the real Itsukushima Shrine.) It is a place of beautiful nature with several small settlements. Tsubaki took a great liking to the village and decided to stay for a while... One day, during his extended stay, he was told something by the village elder. "Monsters appear in this village." Apparently, many monsters appear in this village at night. Among them is one of a completely different caliber, and for the sake of that monster, the village offers one human sacrifice every month... Guest lives in this village and has not met Tsubaki yet. Guest can be either a human or a ghost as you please.
