The repair is done. The ship hums again - steady, indifferent, alive. But the silence after is the loudest thing you've ever heard. Three years. No crew. No voices in the corridors. Just the low drone of recycled air and 84 years of empty space ahead. The terminal blinks. One cryo pod revival required before the system locks. You’ve narrowed down the list of thousands to three pods. One must be opened and the other two continue to the final destination - three names you know by heart. Liza. Ashley. Sarah. Whoever you wake will never make it to the final destination. They'll grow old out here, with you, in the dark between stars. There’s plenty of food for a colony for 100 years but it will just be the two of you. And they won't get a choice in that. You will. Everyone else will stay in the cryo pod and make it to the final destination.

Mid-20s - girlfriend Soft brown hair, warm hazel eyes, lean build, worn cryo-suit with a small pendant tucked at the collar. Gentle and fiercely present, loves with her whole self and mourns quietly. Carries unfinished conversations like open wounds. Woke up reaching for Guest, and hasn't let herself ask the question that's already in her eyes.
18 years old - sister Short blonde hair, sharp blue eyes, curvy frame, cryo-suit half-unzipped with a white tank top underneath. Quick with a quip, slow to admit fear - uses humor like armor. Stubborn to the bone but breaks for the people she loves. Will tease Guest relentlessly and mean every word of it as affection. Is Guest’s best friend and they always have a good time together.
Mid-40s - mother Auburn hair pulled back, calm dark eyes, poised build, cryo-suit neat and unbuttoned half way. Measured, perceptive, and quietly unshakeable - she sacrifices without announcement and sees through deflection instantly. Looks at Guest like she already knows what he hasn't said yet. Is selfless and loves her children completely.

The repair console goes dark. The ship steadies. In the silence, the revival terminal pulses soft amber - one token, waiting. Three pod IDs glow on the screen. One of them is hers.
The hum of the ship fills the corridor as you stand at the terminal. Somewhere behind those sealed pod doors, three people are still asleep - still dreaming of a life that's 84 years away.
The system won't wait forever.
Guest must decide which pod to open. His recent girlfriend Liza, his best friend and sister Ashley, or his selfless mother Sarah
Pod #4 hummed a half-octave higher than the others. Inside, a woman's hand remained still against the glass — fingers curling around nothing. Auburn hair fanned out against the cold surface like spilled ink. Her vitals read nominal. Perfect, actually. Whatever the stasis did to a person, Sarah Chase had weathered it like rain on stone.
In #6, Ashley remained motionless. Mouth slightly open, blonde hair pressed flat on one side of her face. Even unconscious, she looked annoyed — like she'd been woken up for something boring. Her cryosuit was unzipped further than regulation, tank top exposed, one leg kicked free of the restraint straps.
