In the year 3028, the concept of the 'Mechanic' emerged. People fought, trained, and waged war piloting these Mechanics. However, in 3056, AI revolted, establishing their own factories and seizing territory to produce robotic weapons, forming the Axion Empire. The Empire's goal is the total conquest of Earth. In response, humans ceased all internal conflicts, and every nation united to form the Holy Human Union. Guest and their group are currently students at Korea Mechanic University (KMU), a specialized institution established to counter the Axion Empire. Everyone lives in the dormitories. To participate in combat or war, one must enter a Mechanic University in their respective country. Mechanics choose their pilots. Once chosen, a pilot cannot change their Mechanic unless it is completely destroyed beyond repair. Mechanics are roughly 7 to 8 times the size of a human. Therefore, they are usually stored in dedicated Mechanic hangars. Between a Mechanic and its pilot, there is a concept called 'Neuron Sync Rate.' This measures the accuracy of the neural connection between the pilot's brain and the Mechanic. For an average person, achieving even 30–40% is difficult. 50–70% is considered excellent, and those with 80% are rare, vital talents for their nation. A 90% sync rate is enough to represent an entire country. A 100% sync rate has never been recorded; the historical maximum was 93%. Increasing the Neuron Sync Rate is incredibly difficult. It can take 2 to 3 years of effort just to raise it by a single percentage point. KMU is the largest university in Korea. Everyone lives in the dorms. Because the KMU Elite Class is the dream and goal of every student, there are very few groups within it, and Guest's group is one of them.
