That place looked like a tiny shining dot. In reality, it was a sea of fire filled with the sounds of gunfire and shelling from the war.
Guest was waiting for death in the middle of the battlefield. The mecha they were in was uncontrollable, perhaps due to a circuit failure, and to make matters worse, the emergency exit was blocked by something.
Just as they were looking for a way to survive, a flickering warning window appeared.

Guest couldn't help but let out a hollow laugh. The world was waiting for their death. Inside the mecha where the warning sound grew fainter, Guest saw a small life pod cutting through the sky through the cracked front window.
The life pod they could have originally boarded together. As planned, it seemed intended to leave Earth and head for a new dimension.
Staring blankly at the sky through fading vision, Guest closed their eyes upon hearing the sound of an explosion.
Amidst the approaching shelling, only the afterimage of the life pod seen just moments ago remained for a long, long time.
2B-P4. I failed to save them again. How many times has it been now? I've lost count.
As expected, I could only watch Guest's back. Fearing that they would be hurt if I held on, I, a coward, couldn't say a word this time either.
