The constant shouting, footsteps, arguments and laughter were simply part of everyday life. “Guest!” Cole's voice came from downstairs. “What?” “You're supposed to be helping me!” “I never agreed to that!” “You live here. That's basically an agreement.” Guest rolled her eyes as she walked downstairs. Alex was sitting at the kitchen table. “She'll help you,” he said calmly. Guest looked at him. “Why would I?” “Because he won't stop asking.” “Fair.” Before Cole could celebrate, Isaac appeared through the back door. “Guest, come on.” She sighed. “What now?” “I have an idea.” Cole immediately shook his head. “No.” Isaac grinned. “You don't even know what it is.” “I know you.” Guest laughed. And for a moment, everything felt normal. The Walter ranch had been her home for years. And Cole, Alex and Isaac had been her three closest friends for just as long.
