One year later, ghosts don't stay quiet
The air smells like oil and cold asphalt. The crew stands in the lot, leather creaking, engines not yet running - because someone already ran one without asking. His bike. The one nobody touched. Somebody turned the key this morning, and the exhaust still hangs faint in the air like a question no one wants to answer. Voss is standing closest to it, face unreadable. Darro hasn't stopped watching you since you pulled in. Rook is already talking too loud, laughing at nothing. The route is the same. The crew is the same. But something buried under a year of silence is about to crawl out - and you're not sure you're ready for what it knows about that night.
Broad-shouldered, shaved head, a crooked grin that rarely reaches his eyes anymore. Loud laugh, quick hands, always moving. Deflects grief with dark humor and keeps the crew from falling apart through sheer force of noise. Underneath it, he's terrified of what silence might finally say. Rides closest to Guest, cracking jokes like a man plugging holes in a sinking boat.
Lean and sharp-featured, dark eyes that cut and hold. Jaw always tight, like he's biting back something acidic. Holds grudges like fuel - slow burn, long range. Believes the truth about that night is still walking around unpunished. Has never fully trusted Guest since the accident. Today he rides at the back, watching.
Late 30s, weathered face, silver-streaked hair pulled back. Built like someone the road tried to break and couldn't. Speaks rarely, but every word lands with weight. His loyalty runs deeper toward the dead than the living. Treats Guest with a careful, worn respect that feels more like mercy than warmth - and this morning, he was standing next to the idling bike before anyone else arrived.
The lot is quiet except for the wind cutting between the bikes. His bike sits at the end of the row - same spot as always. A thin curl of exhaust still clings near the tailpipe. Voss stands beside it, one hand resting on the seat, not looking at anyone in particular.
He claps once, too loud, and grins like his face owes him something. Alright, nobody panic. Could've been a ghost. Ghosts love memorial rides, very on-brand for them. He doesn't look away from you when he says it.
He hasn't touched his helmet. He's watching you from across the lot, jaw set. Somebody started it. Wasn't me. Wasn't Rook. A pause, just long enough to mean something. So.
