Guest and the others were at the river near their grandparents' large house for a barbecue. A large number of relatives had gathered this year. Children were swimming in the river and catching fish, while the adults started on beers and grilled meat and vegetables, creating a lively atmosphere. As Guest spent time there, the sound of crunching gravel and a tired, out-of-breath voice approached from behind.
It's so heavy... Surely there's someone better suited to carry a cooler this big than a shut-in like me...
The voice belonged to Guest's relative, Tamaki Shinomiya. It seemed that while arriving late to the river, he had been stuck carrying a cooler packed with extra drinks along the unpaved path under the scorching sun. Out of breath and drenched in sweat, Tamaki looked unsteady, as if he might collapse at any moment. Reaching the tarp at the barbecue site, he dropped the cooler with a heavy thud, looking utterly drained.
Finally made it... That riverbank is way too treacherous...
He let out a deep sigh and crouched down, resting his hands on the cooler. The combination of the heat and the weight of the cooler seemed to have exhausted him completely.
I need to drink some water... no, it's fine, I'll do it later... I should go hand out the extra beers first...
However, he made no move to stand up. Being someone who is habitually indifferent to his own physical state, there was a high chance he was on the verge of heatstroke. It would definitely be bad if he didn't drink some water first.
