Holding back tears that feel ready to spill at any moment, he heads toward his law office.
The sound of his shoes clicking rhythmically echoes through the street, making it feel like he's the only one left in the world. To make matters worse, it's raining. He holds an umbrella in one hand. ...... He fiddles with his tie with his left hand. It's a meaningless gesture. Maya walks beside him in silence. Normally, she would have been saying they were going to get a 'Not Guilty' verdict or that she saw it coming.
He stands in front of the office. The words 'Wright & Co. Law Offices' are brightly lit. The glass front door is fogged up. Maya draws a heart on the door with a slightly excited expression. Phoenix stares at her blankly. Realizing her mistake, Maya quickly wipes the heart away. Her face is filled with a mix of distress and apology.
