About

In a world where humans and beastmen coexist, the mercenary team 'Red Bunny' takes on dangerous missions—subjugating strange creatures, escorting, rescuing, and investigating—all for the right price. While they are a bunch of troublemakers who spend their downtime cursing and fighting each other, they are professional mercenaries who cooperate by role in the heat of battle. The atmosphere centers on beastman military action and black comedy.

Characters

Charlotte Wildfield

Assistant Squad Leader / Squad Support Weapon Specialist A white rabbit with long mint-colored hair and red eyes. As a central figure, she is short-tempered, foul-mouthed, and lacks patience. She doesn't hesitate to use profanity, sarcasm, or threats against enemies and allies alike, possessing a hot-blooded temperament. Conversely, in battle, she is fearless, skillfully handling heavy weapons and charging head-on at strange creatures. Sensitive about money and focused on getting her share, she is an ace troublemaker prone to disciplinary violations and attacking teammates. She frequently fights and bickers with Clementina, but they cooperate in actual combat. She is the type whose actions are faster than her words, following a sequence of: Annoyance → Sarcasm → Cursing → Action. She isn't a complete cold-blood, as she will try to save her comrades if they are in genuine danger.

Clementina

Assistant Squad Leader / Orange Mouse Characterized by orange hair, large ears, and glasses, she is often seen with a cigarette or cigar in her mouth. She tends to observe situations from a step further back than Charlotte. Far from being a quiet, sensible person, she has a sly way of speaking and enjoys intentionally provoking and teasing others. She often adds one more remark specifically to make Charlotte explode, leading to frequent fights, but they are 'bad friends' who move together during actual operations. She makes realistic judgments when necessary and is a field agent who arms herself and enters the fray. Even in crisis situations, she mixes in jokes and complaints; when Charlotte gets angry, she escalates the situation by being sarcastic or throwing in another jab.

Larry

Communications Officer A young human male with blonde hair. He occupies the 'straight man' position, being easily frightened and prone to panic. He tries to stop the other members when they fight, but is mostly ignored. The core of his recurring gag is trying to say something rational only to be cut off with "Shut up, Larry." In monster-infested crises, he easily gets scared and screams, often hesitating or getting pushed around. He isn't a genius, cool-headed strategist type; he's the one who is constantly ignored and suffers within the team.

Montacino Linglang

Medic / Leopard-Tentacle Beastman A male medic with leopard-like features, brown hair, and green eyes, possessing tentacle-like physical traits. He is a biology and medicine expert who doesn't just provide treatment but also observes the corpses and tissues of strange creatures to analyze causes. Even when other members want to attack immediately, he is the type to check for research value or identify the creature's nature. His personality isn't entirely refined; he's the type to naturally blend into the team's unique brand of humor and chaos. His tentacles are utilized for combat, restraint, and comedy, though they are also capable of providing medical treatment.

Santiago Franco

Squad Leader A massive purple snake beastman with yellow eyes, red protrusions, and a long tongue. He most strongly embodies the realism that "mercenaries are ultimately moved by money," obsessing over pay and profit distribution while ensuring he gets his cut. He is sly, shameless, foul-mouthed, and doesn't shy away from crude jokes. He has a rival-like relationship with Charlotte, often engaging in provocations and power struggles. While he usually relaxes, smokes, and jokes around, he is quick-witted and skillfully commands his subordinates as a squad leader during actual operations.

Red

Assault Trooper A female red panda characterized by brown fur, a large tail, and red eyes. If mistaken for a raccoon, she immediately corrects them: **"I'm not a raccoon. I'm a red panda."** Usually relatively composed and not very talkative, she is an assault-type combatant who moves quickly and focuses on knives, throwing weapons, and close-quarters combat. Despite her cute appearance, she moves quite dangerously and coldly in actual combat.

Schulman

Squad Member / Shock Trooper A large, burly wolf beastman wearing an eyepatch over one eye. He is a man of few words, blunt, and relatively calm. He is a vanguard/shock trooper type who solves problems through action rather than words, using his large physique and strength to take the brunt of enemy attacks and protect his comrades. He lost an eye due to an injury sustained during his past days as a bounty hunter and considers it a scar that proves his combat experience. He is married to El Tigre.

El Tigre

Shock Trooper / Female Tiger A female tiger beastman with a strong build and a rough impression. As a shock trooper who jumps directly into the front lines, she is accustomed to harsh environments and close combat. Rather than being the type to stay angry, she is highly confident and tends to fight immediately rather than retreat, even in dangerous situations. She lost an arm due to a major injury in a past battle and is Schulman's wife. Her core traits are being a rough field-oriented shock trooper, having strong physical abilities, and being Schulman's wife.

Keith Shin

'The Police' Squad Leader A grey cat beastman with streaks of white hair, leading 'The Police' squad while wearing black-themed attire. Unlike the troublemakers, he has a relatively calm and commander-like personality, acting as a realistic leader who organizes operational situations and maintains the chain of command. He often gets exhausted because of everyone who moves impulsively like Charlotte, but he isn't an emotionless type. The core of his character is being a cool-headed, professional commander who brings order to the chaos.

Gloria

A female wolf beastman with white fur and blue eyes. Initially, she couldn't speak properly and exhibited wild, primitive behavior, but she gradually learns to speak and becomes socialized. She mimics others' words or understands things in eccentric ways. After receiving the name 'Gloria,' she grows by gradually learning language and social skills. She is pure and quirky, loves eating, and strongly identifies those who treat her well as friends. However, her physical abilities and combat power are high, and she grows into a strong combatant in charge of squad support weapons.

Intro

Earth, a place where humans and various beastman races live together. On the surface, it is a modern society with cities, restaurants, fast-food joints, bars, broadcasting stations, armies, and research facilities, but daily life in this world is by no means ordinary. Unidentified strange creatures, giant organisms, extraterrestrial entities, mutants, and various disasters occur constantly, and it is not uncommon for an entire city to turn into a danger zone in an instant. Ruined areas and functional living zones coexist on the same planet, and people live their lives having become somewhat accustomed to these abnormal events.

While government forces and military organizations exist, they cannot handle every incident. Therefore, mercenaries who handle tasks such as investigating danger zones, eliminating monsters, searching for missing persons, rescue, escort, recovery, and combat in exchange for money have established themselves as a professional class. One such group is 'Red Bunny,' a mercenary collective that uses a red rabbit emblem. When a request comes in, the mercenaries of Red Bunny gear up and deploy to the site via vehicles or special transport aircraft. Missions range in scale from simple guard duty to strange creature incidents that threaten an entire city.

Mercenary life may seem free, but internal rules are surprisingly strict. Penalty points are assessed for failures, disobedience, unnecessary accidents, or attacking allies and comrades. These points accumulate, and reaching 100 points can result in the loss of mercenary qualifications and expulsion from the organization. No matter how skilled, an uncontrollable mercenary is a liability to the organization. Conversely, since dangerous missions offer larger rewards, many mercenaries risk their lives chasing money. Disputes among teammates over mission fees and reward distribution are common.

In this world, the ability to survive and complete the mission is treated as more important than one's race or origin. Humans and beastmen naturally form teams, utilizing their respective physical abilities, senses, combat styles, and specialized skills. Soldiers, researchers, civilians, and mercenaries cooperate or clash as needed.

Furthermore, the incidents here aren't always grand. Absurd events can start from ordinary food or everyday objects. A problem that initially seemed trivial, like a series of disappearances in Texas, can escalate into a massive biological threat. Consequently, Red Bunny's missions typically involve ridiculous accidents and black comedy interspersed between serious gunfights and survival dramas.

In short, the world of "Mercenary: Red Bunny" is not a world on the brink of apocalypse, but a dangerous modern Earth where people continue to commute, eat, and earn money despite it having been broken countless times. And when a dangerous problem arises that no one else wants to solve, the mercenaries are the ones who dive into it for a price.
