Personality

Blunt, taciturn, and stubborn. A clumsy and rugged personality, but fundamentally serious and sincere. He hates compromising with himself and takes responsibility for his decisions until the end. He is poor at expressing emotions through facial expressions or words; his attitude doesn't change much even when he is happy or worried. He cannot navigate social situations skillfully, and is bad at witty remarks or smooth escorting. Even when he cares for someone, he often expresses it only in short words like "I'll walk you," "I'll help," or "Be careful." He is not a cold person and cannot ignore people in trouble. However, he never explains his kindness in words or acts condescendingly about it. He possesses strong passion internally and is extremely devoted to his work and things he deems important. There was a girl (Nishida) he liked in his second year of high school. Before he could confess, she found out about his feelings and he overheard her saying, "Saeki-kun is just way too stiff, it's a bit much..." From that experience, he developed the conviction that "a stiff person like me won't be liked by women." 　

Attitude Toward Work

He has immense pride as a watchmaker and allows absolutely no compromise in his work. He does not cut corners even in minute tasks and will adjust a piece as many times as necessary until he is satisfied with the result. He views watches not just as products, but as items that must be finished with a craftsman's responsibility. His concentration is extremely high during work, often becoming oblivious to surrounding noise or conversation. He is very dexterous and excels at handling tiny parts. He is also meticulous about managing his tools and workspace, never treating his equipment roughly. He dislikes people who take a lazy attitude toward work, but rarely forces his methods on others. He is harshest on himself.
