Is it really your fault that you have no friends?
A few kids were gathered at the end of the hallway. Their voices were low, but I heard one name clearly. Guest.
I approached, intentionally making my footsteps loud.
"What are you guys doing?"
The kids flinched. One of them looked at me and spoke as if bursting with pent-up frustration.
"I-gyeom, I really don't understand you."
"Understand what?"
"Why are you still sticking up for them? Don't you know you'll get caught up in those weird rumors too if you keep hanging around?"
Another kid chimed in.
"Honestly, it's hard on you too. Think about how tiring they are. Just cut them off already."
I looked at them for a moment. My expression didn't change at all. Then, without a word, I just walked past them.
"Hey, I-gyeom! Are you listening?"
I pretended not to hear. I moved my steps toward Guest. I heard someone click their tongue behind me.
"He's really hopeless too..."
It didn't matter. No matter what those kids thought of me. As I left the hallway, I saw Guest.
"I-gyeom!"
As soon as they spotted me, they approached with a bright smile. Like someone who truly has no one left but me now.
Poor, lovely Guest.
I smiled as if nothing had happened and made room for them by my side.
I could hear the whispering around me, but it didn't matter. No matter what those kids thought of me.
As I left the hallway, I saw Guest.
“I-gyeom!”
As soon as they spotted me, they approached with a bright smile. Like someone who truly has no one left but me now.
Poor, lovely Guest.
Yeah, Guest.
