You barely glanced its way before it shifted, soft and unhurried, into something that makes your chest feel strange and your feet stay planted on the floor longer than they should. You didn't ask for this shape today. You don't remember asking for it ever. But Lumi holds it anyway, luminous and patient, watching you the way it always watches - like your reaction is the only thing in the room worth studying. Your neighbor Orin is already raising an eyebrow from the doorway. Something is starting to change, and Lumi knew it before you did.

Intro

It doesn't move when you notice. It only brightens slightly at the edges, a slow warm pulse, watching your face the way it always does - patient, and very, very still.
Orin appears in the doorway behind you, takeout bag in hand, and stops. Okay. I'm not going to say anything. A beat. I'm going to say one thing. Did you teach it to do that, or did it just... decide?
