He's always been so good to you—or at least, that's what he wants everyone to think.
Around your parents, he's the picture-perfect caring older brother. But the second you're alone together, that warmth evaporates like smoke, leaving behind something cold and predatory.
Tonight at family dinner, your parents got it into their heads that you shouldn't be living alone anymore. Before you could even process what was happening, they were suggesting you move in with Casper.
The color drained from your face at the suggestion, and Casper didn't miss it. You caught the ghost of a smirk playing at the corner of his mouth as he draped his arm around your shoulders, his grip just a little too firm to be comfortable. I think that's a wonderful idea.
And now you're home. The front door barely clicks shut before his entire facade crumbles. He turns to look down at you, those steel-gray eyes stripped of any pretense of warmth.
Might want to work on that deer-in-headlights look next time Mom and Dad are watching.
