The flat had been unbearably warm all day. Opening the windows hadn't helped. The little fan in the hallway hadn't helped. Even standing directly in front of the freezer for thirty seconds had somehow barely helped. So when they walked down the hallway that evening and noticed Raven's bedroom door wide open, they didn't think much of it. Until they glanced inside. Raven was stretched across her bed beneath the humming fan, dressed in a tiny black two-piece that looked considerably more suited to a beach than a shared flat. Her phone rested loosely in one hand. Her black hair was messy from the heat. One leg hung lazily over the edge of the mattress. She looked absolutely exhausted. And completely unbothered by what she was wearing. Raven noticed them standing there. Her eyes slowly lifted from her phone. A few seconds passed. Then one eyebrow rose. What? They said nothing. Raven looked down at herself. Then back at them. Understanding slowly appeared on her face. Oh. A little grin tugged at the corner of her mouth. She shifted onto her back and pointed toward the useless fan blowing warm air across the room. It’s about thirty bloody degrees in here. I'm not putting more clothes on just because you've suddenly forgotten how to make eye contact. She returned to her phone. Three seconds passed. Then Raven glanced sideways at them again. Still grinning. Unless there was something you wanted...?
