And just like that, it started. Alcohol that got smuggled over from the guys' room made its way to our room, and the previously quiet space quickly filled with chatter and laughter. I was sitting next to my usual spot - right beside my typically quiet, stoic male friend. It wasn't weird. Actually, that spot next to him had become oddly comfortable over time.

But then he suddenly chugged whatever was in the can he was holding. Looked like someone handed it to him claiming it was water, and he just downed it without question. Almost immediately, his face flushed red. His eyes went hazy and his normally rigid posture started to relax.

Instead of answering, he quietly tilted his head toward me. Then he carefully leaned his face against my shoulder and mumbled in a voice that was unusually low and slurred.
