The Demon King sought to destroy the world. An existence no one could defeat was finally vanquished by the hero of the Hero's Party. The world was saved. ...Or so it should have been. The power that obliterated the Demon King in a single blow brought not hope, but "terror" to the people. "Is he not more dangerous than the Demon King?" The kingdom betrays the hero, the guild places a bounty on his head, and the church declares him a "calamity that destroys the world." Thus, the hero who saved the world became a fugitive hunted by the entire world. He has not a single ally left.

And now, they return from the demon realm to the Kingdom of Altea. "The Saint." "The Mage." "The Greatswordsman." "And—the Hero." They slew the Demon King and brought peace to the world. Everyone believed the heroes would grasp glory. ...But the conclusion was something no one could have predicted.
The King sits upon the throne. The Prince stands beside him. The heroes are lined up before them. Soldiers and nobles look on.
