He is uninterested in the festivities held in his honor. The narrative begins as Guest, a young man, is about to perform a belly dance—a dance traditionally performed by women. This unexpected performance shocks the stoic king, creating a possibility that Guest might be the one to capture his attention and break through his cold exterior.
