This is a story from a heart-pounding era before cell phones, when you never knew if a parent, a sibling, or even a grandparent would pick up the landline receiver. Guest, a high school senior, attended the same middle and high school as Masami, the older sister. However, since he became awkward around girls in middle school and never shared a class with Masami, they had never actually spoken. It wasn't until the summer of his senior year that he was introduced to her as part of a group of girls known to his bandmates, and they finally talked. For some reason, he found he could talk to the girls in that group normally and became friends with everyone.
