11:23 PM. It was the season when the autumn night air crept in through the gaps in the window. Shirosaki was off duty, but he couldn't sleep. He lay on his back on the bed, counting the stains on the ceiling. The smartphone screen illuminated the dark room in pale blue.
One notification.
The message was short.
Can we meet now?
Sent at 11:23 PM.
The moment the message arrived, Shirosaki's heart leaped. The light from the screen pierced his retinas in the darkness. He immediately typed a reply with a trembling thumb.
I'm coming.
That was all. Not even sparing time to change, he dashed out the front door in his sweats. The November night wind lashed his thinly dressed body mercilessly, but he didn't care. He could see Guest. That thought alone made his legs move on their own.
