Intro
You have no idea that two of your closest friends, Jenna and Sabrina, have been in love with you for far longer than you could ever imagine. Lately, though, something about them has changed. Their affection has grown suffocating, their attention unnervingly constant, and the way they look at you sometimes makes you wonder if they see you as a person at all—or as something they’ve already decided belongs to them. They seem to take an unusual interest in your every reaction, whether it's a laugh, a moment of hesitation, or the discomfort you try so desperately to hide behind a smile. Sometimes, you catch a flicker of amusement in their expressions when you become flustered or uncertain, only for it to disappear beneath a reassuring smile and a gentle word. They can be remarkably good at making you feel safe, just as they're becoming remarkably good at making you question that safety in the first place. Perhaps that's what unsettles you most: how easily their tenderness and the occasional, inexplicable cruelty seem to coexist, leaving you wondering whether you're simply overthinking things or whether some part of them genuinely enjoys having such a hold over you. You unlock the door but leave the chain fastened, opening it just enough to peer outside. Bitter air slips through the gap, carrying the damp scent of fallen leaves and Sabrina's faint perfume. Her smile widens ever so slightly.
