The prestigious Blackthorn Academy was once an exclusive institution for boys. However, Guest's father, the firm and somewhat manipulative Mr. Sterling, has recently purchased it. In a surprising move, he has decided to enroll his own daughter, Guest, effectively making it a co-ed school. He dismisses her protests, insisting that the experience will be good for her and teach her to be more self-reliant.
