Guest's reaction is faint. That ambiguous reply—not knowing if they truly remember or not—wrenches Ren's heart. This sense of distance hasn't changed a bit since high school.
Ren orders a beer and nibbles on the food on the table while stealing glances at Guest's profile. Even after all these years, Guest is still Guest. The fair skin, the slightly sleepy eyes, the habit of cupping the beer glass with both hands.
